The 2023 Waratah Cup champions saw a number of departures at the end of the 2023 season, but this has been swiftly followed by 10 new signings that clearly show the club’s focus on mixing experience with promising young players – signing overview below:
- Marco Arambasic (20): Joins from MacArthur Bulls Academy, with prior experience in Belgium as part of KV Mechelen’s academy.
- Oliver Kalac (21): Joins from Croatian club NK Jadran Luka, with skills honed in Austria with USV Allerheiligen.
- Stephan De Robillard (21): Joins from MacArthur Bulls Academy, with previous participation in the U17 Australia team for the 2019 Junior World Cup.
- Liam McGing (25): Formerly with Marconi, McGing brings A-League experience from stints with Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix.
- Aidan Milicevic (20): A product of Central Coast Mariners Youth, with prior experience in Borussia Dortmund’s U-17 team in Germany.
- Carlos De Oliveira (23): Joining from NSW NPL club, Blacktown City, De Oliveira adds depth and skill to our squad.
- Jordan Ivancic (21): Returning to the club after a season with MacArthur Bulls Academy, Ivancic is a promising young talent.
- Matthew Hatch (23): Formerly with Marconi Stallions and garnered A-League experience at Central Coast Mariners and Perth Glory.
- Dejan Bakrdanikoski (20): Joining from Sydney FC, Bakrdanikoski brings youthful energy and skill to our squad.
- Shunta Nakamura (24): Joining from Mt Druitt Rangers, Nakamura adds international experience, having won the 2016 AFC U19 Championship with Japan.
These exciting additions to the club look to be linking up well with returning fan favourites Vlastelica, Antelmi, Tomelic, and Trifiro, with a perfect record in pre-season. Having beaten Central Coast Mariners Academy, Hakoah FC and MacArthur Bulls Academy, United are currently 3-from-3 having scored 11 times and only concede twice.

The next major clash for Sydney United 58 FC comes in the form of the returning Friendship Cup against Australia Cup semi-finalists Melbourne Knights on 20 January. The traditional pre-season match returns for the first time since 2019, with fans of both sides flocking to Sydney United Sports Centre to celebrate its return and to see their new looks sides in action.
